| Pommel... No...I am talking about schermasport (a italian brand) pommel, not the grip itself...I don't like the LP full length grip (aka the tennis grip) becoz it is way too thick....and the balance is a little bit weird. I love LP blades though. (so bad they don't have full length tangs which fit with 6mm pommels)

| The Shermasport 2 piece pommel was designed with pommeled epees in mind, or so I was told. It has the shape to fit your hand, good wieght to help balance out the blade and is tectured to help you get the grip you want if you are going to be pommeling. Most of the pommelers that I know do not use them, mainly because they have not heard of them or if they have that they are very expensive and do not do that much for you but a couple of really good epee fencers who pommel swear by them.
Keep in mind that there are actually two kinds, the small and the large. The small is more a pricey toy for French Grip foil fencers while the large is for the epee. Triplette makes an extra large/heavy pommel for some of their renn blades that, while it is not tectured (although that is easy enough to change with a Dremmel) works very well for pommeling. Not sure if I answered your question or not despite all that though...
Oh yeah, how does it compare to the Allstar one? It is superior for the pommeled epee giving better balance (for most people anyway), a better grip and a bit more reach. The standard Allstar French pommel is very much nothing special, just a blob of metal that has been tapped and polished.

| I've never really used one, but I've held them a few times. I use the PBT large pommels. They are more tapered and feel better (on first inspection) than the PBT, which are the best alternative I've found. One of my teammates just had one arrive today, but he hasn't used it yet.

Veeco is a shermasport user and has posted about which grips can be used with the pommels. |

it's a very good pommel, and if you like to do pommeling in fencing it's a good one. I like to use it but not on the traditionnal french grip (my favourite the prieur one with wood and leather) but on the italian shermasport french grip (who's angulated).
Thanks Cville fencer for a so good description. |
