| The Dartagnan II Well here's my problem... I just bought a new set of Dartagnan II fencing shoes, size 12. I've got about an inch of space between the toe of the shoe and my foot (my reg shoe size is 12 but these seem large, especially in the toe area, or is that just how fencing shoes are designed?).
I've only had one pair of Fencing shoes which lasted for some time and I liked the look of them. The Dart II's look kind of funny with the toe end of the shoe being ever so slightly angled inward, like elf shoes or something....
I don't know what I should do, I know I'll obsess over it but 11 and 1/2s might be too small! Help!

| Generally, shoes that are too long are not so good because your foot can slide forward within the shoe when you land on your lunge. Overall, the shoes are cut somewhat narrow. I'd probably try 11.5 and see if they'll stretch to the right width. Either that or just return them outright and wait until you can go to a vendor directly. |

| Also keep in mind that a size 12 us is differant depending on where you ordered them from. A US size 12 is a 12 1/2 in Germany or the UK. I have never figured out how the French or the Chinese do their sizing. Anyway point is that fencing shoes tend to run a bit small. Chances are you have what would be a US size 12 1/2.

If anyone's been to China then feel free to correct me.

| I don't know about the Dart II's, but the origninal Darts tended to stretch a little more than normal, especially in the toe box.

| It's a US size 12. I made sure to check that before buying. But the weird part is my feet don't slide around in them at all, they just have a little more room at the end then I expected. They fit well, but I'm just wondering if I can do better.

| Adidias shoe sizes tend to be 1/2 size smaller than your normal shoe size. |

| my dart II's are also a little bit on the room side. The Dart I's had a snugger fit.

| When I brought my D'Art IIs I was advised to buy the 1/2 size larger than the pair that I thought fitted me well. It was explained to me that I should have 15mm between my big toe and the end of the shoe to avoid damaging the toe nail on my leading foot when I lunged.
If your feet don't slide about in the shoe, they feel comfortable and you don't trip over your 'extra long feet' I wouldn't worry. |
