Cartel white weight vs STM FIE

Coach(sigh, he teaches me at school, so hes "my" coach I guess) has a Cartel BF white. It is damnably, seriously heavy compared to my STM FIE gold. We both have more or less the same grip/guards/etc.

Is this due to my super light StM, or is a Cartel heavier in contrast to most foil blades?

Its not that it is a Cartel blade, as "Cartel" blades are BF blades with Cartel stamped on them. BF's are odd in that some batches can be very light, and others can feel like the old Vniti's in terms of weight. I guess that one has more steel than others (which may be why the last batch of Cartel stamped BFs are so durable, they are similiar to old Vniti's) and this type of variance is part of what I don't like about BF blades. I like my blades to be very consistant, which is one of the things I like about the LP blades. Some may be more or less flickey that they other, but the weight is not going to be off buy a 100+ grams!

StM blades also have a bit of a variance in them, but generally less than the BF blades. The main problem with the StM other than sometimes flakey quality control on a few batches is that they tend to turn soft, take kincks and then they are going to snap on you. Also with both blades, but especially the StM's they do not like really sharp bends. I like the StM blades a lot, and that is what I sell at the club mostly, unless someone know exactly what they want.

Probably a longer answer than you wanted. Also as you know the guard you use and the bend of a tang can change the perceived weight of a weapon a lot, although from your post you seem to have considered this.
