What's wrong with my weapon?! I need some help, please:
For some reason, the way I hold my epee makes the tip very, very heavy. And it's a real bear to even keep control of the weapon with such a scrawny grip. The bell guard seems like it's to far away to protect my wrist (it's convex instead of concave!), and I cannot fathom why the body cord should be connected at the far end near the opponent. What am I doing wrong? -

Array Despite the difficulties you're having controlling your weapon, think of the effect that any hits you make will have on your opponent! <img src="graemlins/evil3.gif" border="0" alt="[Evil 2]" /> If your training partners will allow it, I suggest you continue with your bold experiment. Nah, not really...
The purpose of trolling is usually to elicit strong negative emotions or set someone up for ridicule for one's own amusement. In this case, I'm poking fun at no one but myself with an obviously ridiculous proposition.
There are bad trolls and good trolls -- I prefer to think of the latter as jesters.
That still doesn't answer my question, though. Maybe if I held my weapon in a pronated position? ... -

Array to be honest, from your post, I am un certain as to how you are holding your epee in the first place.
Pronation or supination. It all depends upon the school of fencing you adhere to as well as your grip type.
Italian & Pistol: Partial to full pronation
French: Partial to full supination ... without remorse for the past, confident in the present, and full of hope for the future, [d'artagnan] went to bed and slept the sleep of the brave.

D'art, please tell me you're kidding. Otherwise, go back and read the first post again ... -

Array Ok, its obvious I didn't read it too carefully. No wonder Lochnivar said he was trolling.
Hey, I gave Scurious the benefit of the doubt that he/she couldn't have been holding the weapon by the pommel!!!!!! ... without remorse for the past, confident in the present, and full of hope for the future, [d'artagnan] went to bed and slept the sleep of the brave.

Array Actually, the Squirrell King is holding the business end of the weapon! Rex, hold the other end. You'll find it fits your hand a bit more comfortably and offers your hand a bit more protection! -

Array Okay, I reread it again. It's not by the pommel, but by the tip of the weapon!!!!! Alright, this is enough insanity. ... without remorse for the past, confident in the present, and full of hope for the future, [d'artagnan] went to bed and slept the sleep of the brave.
