Introduction To Fencing Instructor
The USFA National Coaching Development Program is holding a Fencing Instructor course at the Colorado Springs Olympic Training Center, July 17th through July 24th 2005.
· This is a new course designed by physical educators, open to any activity instructors in a school or youth service agency coach who are interested in learning how to teach fencing. NO PRIOR KNOWLEDGE OF FENCING NEEDED. Presented in a format that you can use with safety and confidence in your program. This course is devoted to developing your skill and understanding in modern foil fencing so that you can enjoy teaching this sport in different formats and to various age groups. It will be a hands-on workshop in the gym with lecture intervals.
· Arrival day - Sunday, July 17th.
Session days - Monday, July 18th - Saturday, July 23rd
Departure day - Sunday, July 24th.
· The session fee of $300.00 includes course tuition, course materials, meals in the OTC athlete dining hall, airport shuttle to and from OTC complex.
· You will need to have the Basic Foil Equipment Package with you in Colorado Springs. You WILL NOT be allowed to participate without it. Vendor list available at the USFA web-site
Basic Foil Equipment Package:
· Foil
· Mask
· Glove
· Fencing jacket
· Safety protection (Breast protector for women, cup for men)
· Sweat suit bottoms
· If accepted for the 2005 Fencing Instructor Program, July 17 - 24, 2005, at the Colorado Springs Olympic Training Center, Colorado Springs, Colorado, candidate must fully plan to comply with any and all U.S. Olympic Training Center rules and regulations, and with all USFA safety requirements while on site.
· Deadline for participation in this event is April 25th , 2005.
