Array Greetings from the Great White North Hi,
I'm a newly unretired fencer from Canada. I fenced varsity sabre and epee for about 10 years back in university in my younger days. I've recently started back up again after I signed my son up for beginner lessons in a local club. I figured he better not just learn all my old mistakes but rather learn some of his own instead. I knew that if I went to watch him there was no way I could not start fencing again and so here I am.
As if I didn't have enough challenges I decided to turn to the dark side and take up foil in the hope that my creaking frame would not be subject to as much abuse. I was wrong. Damn those young whippersnappers who can actually recover from a lunge.
BTW, who changed all the rules! No fleche in Sabre! It's madness! -

Array Sam,
Welcome back. Hey, you can fleche all you like in epee! No reason to fool with foil. I hope you and your son enjoy the sport together.
