Are Female Chest Protectors Gender Specific?

I was having a discussion with another fellow fencer about how difficult it was to land a flick on a female chest protector. We reckoned that wearing a female chest protector was even more advantageous then wearing a flat, humpless male chest protector. And then, naturally, the idea came: why don't guys wear female chest protectors, too? So, the question is, is there any regulation in the rules that prohibits men from wearing female chest protectors?
Maybe, perhaps, likely, possibly, probably, potentially.

I hope not! That would be discriminatory against those with man-boobs!

How is this different from wearing a painted mask? Dignity? That's a valid concern for the square and the close-minded. I mean, some guys even have trouble wearing a cup. Besides, a lot of guys who didn't wear chest protectors before are wearing one now, just to gain an edge, so why stop there.

    guys with plastic boobs :)

I've seen guys wear women's chest protectors at North American Cups, so I guess they're allowed. But come on, how would ever FIE think of a rule prohibiting men to wear women's chest protectors?? However, with the new timing it's even harder to land a flick, like you said, on plastic boobs. Some guys also wear the protector right underneath the vest - a smart way to cheat. But let's be honest - it is unfair.

    I don't think so?
Although I admit to not having read the rules that thoroughly. Also the USFA rules may differ from the FIE rules.

As far as "SuperBoobs" are concerned I wouldn't worry too much... I don't have very big 'boobs' (they're just the perfect size for me! ) so I wear the smallest adult sized chest protector.

It doesn't really show that much, and I seriously doubt any of my opponents have ever been distracted by it!

I haven't heard of any FIE regulations re: men wearing women's chest protectors. However, I remember reading signs at the last NAC in Kansas prohibiting _anything_ from being worn between the jacket and the lame in foil.....attempting to even the playing field with a thin layer of nylon, I guess.....

you might find that you will need a women's lamé and jacket to fit the different shape in. Could work out being expensive. and from 1 March FIe rules say you will have to wear it next to the skin so it will be uncomfortable.

And basically, just very silly - are you a lumberjack??
I caught this morning morning’s minion, king-
dom of daylight’s dauphin, dapple-dawn-drawn Falcon, in his riding
Of the rolling level underneath him steady air, and striding
High there, how he rung upon the rein of a wimpling wing
In his ecstasy! then off, off forth on swing,
As a skate’s heel sweeps smooth on a bow-bend: the hurl and gliding
Rebuffed the big wind. My heart in hiding
Stirred for a bird,—the achieve of; the mastery of the thing!

I would think they are. The gender is specified right in the name.
    Female Chest Protectors.

Some people are like slinkys. They serve no useful purpose, but it sure feels good when you push them down the stairs.
