| I need a new sabre blade Okay, so I kinda borrowed my girlfriend's blade to replace my horribly bent one over the winter break, but now that we're back to school, she needs it back. I've been using STM #5 blades, should I just stick with these, or would you recommend a different one?

Here are my favorite blades, along with some qualities...
FIE
Vniti (flicky or stiff depending on which one you get, heavy)
LP FIE (same, but has an interesting weight balance, lightweight)
Both of those blades are very durable, but take a while to get used to..
Non-Fie
LP (flicky, lightweight, durable)
Fleche (good balance, kinks easily)
SG ( Stiff at first, prone to extreme kinks)
PBT Ukraine (Good balance, nice at first, gets very soft near the end of the lifespan)
Triplette BF- Stiff, beautiful balance, kinks like a mofo..... fun until they dont hold their shape.

| Heh, well done DFP!
Our club has a bunch of allstar dry sabres that are used to give beginners lessons/school lessons. They look pretty old, but they are still fine.
Probably either the "Allstar" blade, "ecostar" or "allstar super" blades. Not too springy, though.

| Those are good blades. Other ones to consider are the BG blades. Both are semi-durable and fairly well balanced. Most important rule is to never spend more than $20 on a sabre blade, and you should be fine. |

| The BG blades are pretty much crap. I'd recommend the Blade Y shaped blades, they're not too expensive and hold their shape and form pretty well. It's not really sensible to spend $30+ on a sabre blade as they break often. |

| I like the Allstar LM blades--they are nice and light. Just started using them though, so I don't know about their durability. The regular Allstar blades are pretty durable--I don't think they break any more often than the old blades did--it is just that when they go, they tend to break at the tang, which looks pretty spectacular--like the sabre blew up....
