| Driving exam tomorrow!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH well tomorrow is the big day. There are two examiners at the centre where i'm taking the test. One is known to be very very picky and harsh and the toher is reasonable. We were there the other day and watched the really picky guy fail 2 people in 30 minutes! i was quite confident before but now i'm really nervous and scared.
Don't get me wrong, i can do all the things required and drive safely, but i' scared i might make that one little mistake like bump a curb on the 3 point turn and fail
Any of you guys have any tips? prehaps past experiences and stories? also any techniques to help me calm down and focus for the test is good, I'm starting to freak

| Which centre? I did mine (oh god 10 years ago now) at the old Flockton Village site. Passed first time as well! Good luck, even though we dont need another Grammer brat on brisbane roads.

| A few hints that helped me:
- Check your mirrors frequently. The person evaluating you will be looking for this.
- Make sure that you do a walk around the car first to look at tires, make sure there's nothing in the way, etc.
- I'm not sure what seatbelt laws there are in your area, but if they're strict, make sure you do not move the car unless your evaluator has their seatbelt on, too. Don't be afraid to ask them to do up the seatbelt.
- Check your mirrors.
- Don't be afraid to slow down and take things easy.
- Check your mirrors.
- Always be one hundred percent prepared to yield. Don't be afraid to give right of way (sorry, not trying to be too cheezy here) to someone who's going to take it anyway. Having right of way doesn't mean beans if it puts you into an unpleasant/dangerous situation.
- If you're going to be tested on a car you're not familiar with, make sure you take a few moments to find the controls. I was used to driving a car with the gear shift on the column, but once I got into a car that had the gear shift on the floor hump, and didn't realize it. I went to shift the car into gear and broke the windshield wiper control off.
- The evaluator isn't out to get you or fail you or anything - they're only along for the ride, and to make sure you're CHECKING YOUR MIRRORS!!!
Seriously - be really obvious when checking your mirrors - don't just move your eyes, actually move your head a bit. I am, of course, assuming that in Australia, you have mirrors in your cars... |

| A couple months ago, when I got m liscense, I got a point off because I was "confused by multiple lanes". In other words, I came up to an intersection, and I was in the right lane. The arrows were on the street, and I couldn't see them, so just to be safe, I changed into the middle lane. Then about 10 feet later, I got to the highway we were getting to, and had to change into the right lane again. So it was basically a swerve. I don't really blame myself, though, it was the lack of road signs. And that stupid "right lane must turn right" concept.
(Oh, wait. I guess since you live in one of THOSE countries, you have to switch "right" with "left", and vice versa, for my story to make sense. ) |

| Good Luck, just do as all others do, but don't show the finger....
No, of course not, DONT do as others do, others would never again pass their driving test! Pols have been done here in CH, and it proved that quite a few drivers would probably have difficulties in passing their test again.
- just look at me - I'm on probation......I drove a little too fast and police decided to take a picture of me. I tried to smile, but probably was too late smiling. Maybe they were right and I was driving too fast after all. That's what they decided, at least. And they wanted money too!
X-mas for the government.....that was a heck of a present I gave them...

I was in London, touring at the Tower of London, when I saw the most adorable group of school children all dressed in their winter outfits! They wore grey with red and black plaid pinafores, white peter pan bouses, black tights, black shoes, and they all had on matching red wool coats with black berets. They looked absolutely beautiful.
Most the private schools here enforce uniforms, but the children never look as neat and crisp as these students did, and our uniforms rarely include winter outerware, so on a field trip you'd be unlikely to notice the uniformity at all!
Threadjack, but Zelda's school outfit description reminded me! |

| Heheheh, them English, they've got the best uniforms! I honestly don't understand what's so wrong with school uniforms. "Freedom of expression" my arse. I wouldn't mind having to wear them to school, in fact, I'd have liked it better.

large parts have become limited max speed and if not, than traffic doesn't allow speed. And if both not: my car would never make what most German cars do. They sneek up from behind, their headlights high, approach with an undeterminable speed. Scarry, the speed they're at.
Yeah, well......
going to sleep now, g'nite all.....
