| Finland Post Corporation
1st Class Letter 0.65 Euro, delivery the next day (usually) for domestic mail.
Finnish Post was 'commercialised', while not completely privatised in the 90's, so it has been going downhill ever since -- more expensive with worse service. But it does make a small profit at present... |

| Post in the UK usually arrives quite quickly. although the BBC Magazine online did an experiment that proved that the postal service was not perfect. They sent a postcard by overnight mail that never arrived at its seventh stop, the home of a man who said he routinely had problems receiving his post. I've also had some difficulty with mail to the US. I had a few items posted to me that took longer than they should have to reach me. Overall, however, I find that posting letters to the US is pretty quick. It costs 47p to send a letter to the US, approximately 85 cents.

| I believe that Canada's postal system is a well run mess. But an organized mess. (Sort of like my room...) It gets the job done. Usually on time (unless something is time sensitive...), etc. Postage within Canada is $0.50. (it just went up), and I believe it is $0.85 for the US. More for international shipping. Do you want more info? www.canadapost.ca Enjoy.

| Impressive German efficiency! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/4254265.stm
Makes a change to talk about some other countries postal service.
I especially like: Quote: |

| Sorry for the late response, I don't go into the watercooler that often.
La Poste, the French postal service, delivers mail 6 days a week: Mon-Sat.
To send a regular standard 21g letter anywhere in France (that includes oversees territories) it costs I believe 50 eurocent.
It will pretty much arrive within 2-3 days at destination.
I don't know about other countries, but in France, La Poste is also a bank. You can get money there, put your money, open a checking, savings account, and you might even be able to trade stocks over the internet!
La Poste is also an internet provider, and they have a Parcel service that IMO rivlas the likes of UPS and Fedex.
All in all, I don't think I have heard anyone in France ever complain about our postal service.

Burning dead cow carcasses on the autoroute before you could say "Sacre bleu, La Poste est vraiment insupportable!"

| Wow, do the French really say "Sacre Bleu!"? I thought that was only in cartoons!
Veeco, is the French postal system self-supporting, or does it receive a partial subsidy from the taxpayers? |

| I think it gets some money from the government.
