| Mens Foil World champions Does anyone know the MF World Champions for the last 20 years? The only ones I know are Omnes in 92, Golubitsky from 97-99 and Kim in 2000. Olympics do count as World Champs don't they?
P.S. Is it true that Romankov was 10 times World Champion? Would be interested to find out the years of those aswell.
Thanks. |

| A World Cup event is an A-Grade/Grand Prix.
The World Cup winner over the season is the fencer with the most points on the FIE list.
The World Champion is the winner of the World Championships, a yearly single event.
Same as most sports, eg athletics.
Clear?

Thanks. | World Championships = yearly event with best fencers in the world. Golobitski won it 3 times. Romankov 5.
Olympics = takes the place of World Championships every 4 years. Neither G or R has won it.
World Cups = big fencing competitions authorized by the FIE (about 12 for each weapon are held each year around the world. G and R have won many of these.

| Thanks JackSparrow!
Do you have a link for this -- these used to be on the FIE site but I can't seem to find them anymore.
Cheers,

| What part do national federations play in the financial requirements of fencers? And out of interest, is there actually any financial reward at all for winning a world cup/world championship? |

| Some of the bigger comps, Grand Prix World Cups usually, offer prize money. It's usually something like Ł500.
The level of support from the British federation is almost nil: occasional funding for the very top guys. Read fencingforum.com for more info.
