Prieur Scoring Box confusion... My club has an old prieur scoring box. See the pictures attached.
1. What does it mean if both an off and on target light go off on the same side?! (the hit is on or off?)
2. What does the pointing finger symbol mean (second button from right)?
If anyone can help answer these questions, it will mean a lot. Here are pictures, in case anyone else comes searching this board for a similar question.

Array The off target and on target at the same time means that the tip hit both valid and non-valid targets within the lockout time. This used to be standard on most machines and was considered off target. If this is the same as the orange prieur boxes, there are two buttons. One is power and the other is foil/epee. -
So with this box, are you saying that there is the possibility of someone depressing the tip on target, then sliping to off; but it would have to be called off target?
This box has a power, sound on/off, foil/epee mode, and the unknown button with a pointing finger. The sweet is never sweet without the sour. -

Array That's right for the on/off target. Also note that the prieur boxes are old and don't conform to the currently used epee timings (and probably not even the old foil timings, but I'm not sure).
The pointing finger could be manual reset/automatic reset. I can't remember what additional functions the blue ones had compared to the orange. -

Array I second the coloured and white light explanation - it was always considered 'off target'
That score box 'jpg' - if you look closely can you see a mountain range or is it an animal of some sort? -
It used to be specified that if you hit off-target, but then immediately afterward hit valid, you would get both a valid light and a white light on. This would be treated as off-target, since the off target arrived first. You should not get a white light coming on after an on-target hit has registered-- if this happens then there is something wrong with the box.
The switch is the manual/auto reset selector. When it's in the "up" position, the lights don't reset until the button is pressed and released.
The only extra feature the blue Prieur 2-W boxes had over the older orange ones was the ability to turn off the sound.
