    Heads up! Documentary series repeat.

As Iraq, Al Qaeda, OBL and Duby are everyone's favourite topics (apart from Inq' and his puns) I thought I would let you know that a really interesting Documentary series about the history of the "climate of fear" is about to be repeated on the BBC. Those americans who have contacts in the UK may be able to get it recorded. I urge you to watch it - even if you end up not agreeing with the series conclusions.

More information can be found here.

Well I see that my attempt to get people to watch something interresting has failed. Probably because most people on this board are in America and don't have the BBC?

Well after a bit of a search I've found some links about this documentary. I would describe it as a "must see". Even if you can't handle/like/agree with its conclusions.

    Here are the links:

The Power of Nightmares - Part 1
The Power of Nightmares - Part 2
The Power of Nightmares - Part 3

At this point I have not had the opportunity to download and watch the documentaries so I can't comment on the quality yet (judging from the real feeds it's encoded VHS).

For the hell of it here are a couple of other links:

Sight unseen, I'm guessing that you think it's a "must see" because you DO like/agree with its conclusions?

The updated documentary series is currently on BBC2 at 2320. Unfortunately you've missed the first 2 episodes. However it's only the third episode that has been updated (to reflect the current political situation in the US apparently) so you could download the first 2 abd watch the final episode tonight.

I think that the ideas are very interesting. I won't prejuidice you by telling you too much about the indivual episodes. I think you should download the torrents from those links above and watch yourself. Even if you disagree, you should watch it - but you won't know whether to disagree or not till you watch it.

Do I agree? Hmmm... Broadly. I can see what the producers where aiming for. I don't know ebough about a couple of the elements to say definitively that I agree. Having said that, the documentaries are very intriguing. Watch them yourself Inq'.

One of the links posted above is a rebuttal of it and the guardian article mentions a couple of questions that would need answering. I only ask that people watch these documentaries and discuss. What's wrong with that?

OK...assuming I have time presently. I suspect that I am about to be unceremoniously ousted from my present near-sinecure by a fellow with "seniority"...and the day shift is a place "where it's always double drill and no canteen", so to speak. If so I'll needs be done with long sojourns here. Probably be relegated to the 1-hour maximum at the library.

But that's neither here nor there...
