    Australian u/20 nationals

I know there are some aussies on here, anyone going to be at melbourne for nationals?

I need a top 8 to qualify for worlds... so a bit of pressure there, hehe.

I'll be training at the national camp beforehand, i've got a green mask with world cup stickers on the side.

I'm doing it, Men's Foil style ya'll. I'm not doing the training camp though because:

a)Too damn expensive for somebody who's only been fencing 2 years as of March this year.

b)I'd say my standard coach is as good or better than any coaches the training camp would have.

If as your sig suggests you're number two, and I don't doubt that then you'd make final with ultimate ease.

Seen you fence in the UK mate, and I'm sure you'll do fine!!! Just take it one hit at a time, all the way...

    Best of luck!

Good luck (coming from a kiwi, but we're all fencers here)!

Be funny if they held it in Alice Springs But I guess it would be more or less equal travelling distance for all fencers...

I don't know who he is but perhaps you could sick him onto this fabled "James Walsh" character.

James Walsh is a really nice guy - as is his dad. Dont know why you have a problem with him - but I have been out of QAFA politics for awhile.

    Greatest Competition EVARR!

After the competition started [Men's Individual Foil] I did reasonably well in my pool, won 3 lost 2. [Lost 5-0 in one when my foil started short-circuiting after my opponent beat the blade, the tip stopped registering] The other bout I just got out-classed 5-2; oh Well.

Went into the DEs seeded 23rd and won my first DE easily, 15-9 or something like that. My coach wasn't overjoyed though since during the bout I was being REALLY dodgy with my lunges and so forth.

My bout to make the final 16 was against some one from WA and it was pretty close, I won 15-12, I felt odd because whenever he scored a touch around 10 people would be shouting and cheering, when I scored around 2 people would be cheering, softly. Yay! During the bout I lunged and lost my footing and fell over, I'm still recovering from a pulled muscle in my back.

To get into the final 8 I was massacred by around 15-3, I was in pain and to quote my coach "you were beating by somebody far better than you."

I came 14th out of 45 over all and was made 4th man in the Victoria A team.

In the teams I was unable to fence even in the easy rounds due to the previously mentioned injury, thus it felt odd coming home with a national gold medal. It was the first time NSW have been beaten in Team Men's foil since 1998.

I think I did reasonably well for somebody fencing less than 2 years.
