Not meaning to take anything away from you guys down under - Australians have won more than 10 World Cup medals (+ one for New Zealand) over the last decade, most of them in close to full strength World Cups. An impressive performance from a country where fencing gets little financial support. |

| Little? Too true. A few of us (fencers) got fencing grants/scholarships from the government, though. Recognising that some of us are seriously good sports people
However, give us a few years, We'll show you
Edit: We had an olympian at Athens, a lady doing womens epee. She didn't too well, I hear, (actually, I don't know WHERE she placed!) but she was there. Our first olympic fencer since Barcelona 1992.

Yeah we like to omit that first part... hehehe.
Evelyn Halls has been a consistant medal winner for Australia, and Jess Beer picked up a silver at the former WE A grade in london.
The majority of the money in australia with junior/early senior fencers comes from university grants/scholarships - I've been awarded one this year at the university of sydney. |

Any way, been talking to Seamus and:
The competition had been held a few times in the years before, in the year prior to his win he came 4th, when it was zone.
When he won the field of competitors was at least 80+ people, it was the first year that all countries could send full teams, like today.
His highest Junior ranking was no2.

| Hey,
I'm too lazy to find the tape, and look it up, but what was the name of the Kiwi who made the 1988 Olympic Final in Epee, and then got smashed by Shuvalov (RUS)?
Is he still banging around down there?
He was pretty funny... had this goofy mustache and a weird look on his face like he was supposed to be sitting in the stands... BUT there he was... top 8 at the Olympics.

*looks it up*
Edit: Found word of Martin Brill (Our head of fencing in NZ) coming 7th at the Seoul Games. In 1988. Didn't say what weapon.
*looks harder*

| so sad that I knew this off the top of my head.
His name was Brill, and he looked like he was doing footwork only from the ankles. Probably one of the worst beatings I've seen on tape. Not, however, one of the worst beatings I've received .
My coach could beat up your coach... there is no question, overly testosteronized australian, ignorant illiterate American, skirt wearing scotsman, cheese eating surrender monkey or otherwise. Climbing into fallout shelter. |

| My first coach was a sweet, rolly-polly good-natured older dude...You'de never know he once was a marine and served 3 tours in 'Nam. I only saw him mad twice in 5 years, but when it happened it freaked us all out...he turned PURPLE! We all backed off, and so would your wussy coach. You sail like girls too..........

| My coach would probably drop your coach to the ground with a swift kick to the crotch, because the coach is a she. I know what you're all thinking and yes... she has kicked me in the crotch.

My coaches are great, but even I've been beating them.

| I just wonder whether you know all of each other coaches to determine the correct answer to the po..... (gosh, always forget how to write the end of this word..... )
So basically, I think this po.. is flawed.

| My coach is also a sensei and master of his own recognized branch of Karate. He'd wipe the floor with your coach.
