My Australian wife and I once met the writer and activist Gloria Steinem, founder of Ms. magazine, virtual inventor (inventrix?) of the appellation, Ms. She was looking for challenges. "You're from Australia?" she said. "I'd LOVE to go there."
I don't know if she ever did. And I don't know if she'd find today what you describe. Maybe our Aussie pals can give us an update. |

2) Same situation in Aussie Rules, person gets injured and they along with their club lose out in the monatery area. Just business, Trump style!

Kudos to the "girly-men" as I believe Arnold said during Bush's campaign.

I mean, I can't say I live in redneck territory, but to say that the U.S. rate is one of the lowest in the WORLD violates common sense. |

Any-who, I'm 16 too and didn't investigate the results my self, I'm just saying what I've heard. Although in the end results are results either way.

I think the Netherlands has a higher rate of English literacy than the USA. English is not the first language of the Netherlands.

| Yeah but to coach in NZ seems strange. I'm sure he could get much more money elsewhere, but hey

Isn't it funny that, in my case, both coach and student are foreigners? I think so... anyway, what was that comment about Australian women being manly?! I'm really insulted!!! Is that supposed to imply that you're manly (HA HA)

| My coach hasn't been to the Olympics and he isn't A-rated in any of the weapons but he could beat your coach over the head with his bell guard, tie him/her to a brick and throw him/her off a bridge.
Oh, and he's a kicka$$ foilist too.

I think a more accurate statement would be to say that the US has one of the lowest RECORDED literacy rates in the world. Not every country measures the percentage of the population that can read, and not every country wants its population to be able to read. To top it off, kids need to want to learn to read and many just don't care enough to bother. Teachers are under such pressure to pass, pass, pass that illiterate kids slide through the ever-widening cracks all the time.
However, this has been discussed in other threads so I'll leave it be and return to your regularly scheduled rants.
My coach can beat up your coach. So there.
