Tournament

I think theres going to be a fencing tournament in Dover-Foxcroft sometime in Febuary. Im just wondering if there is anyone in the area that is interested... I only know of one class in the area, and thats the one putting on the tournament... So if you know of any groups in the area that might want to go, spread the word. It will be at the local middle school, and I'll try to get the other details at my next class.

Hey, somebody from Maine on these posts! Great! I don't feel so alone now. I live about forty minutes from Dover Foxcroft, in Hudson, and I fence in Orono, Verona, and Brewer (Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays respectively).

I'll have to double check, but I think the Maine State Open, in Portland, is also being hosted on February 12th. I may end up in Portland, but I will encourage fencers who aren't willing to make the two and a half hour drive to head north instead.

Good luck with the tournament!

The Maine State Open is, indeed, 2/12/05. Not brilliant planning by the Dover people if they expect/want to get anyone else.

Other information that would be nice: Is your event USFA (it's not on the NO division schedule so I assume that's a no)? Is USFA membership required? Is it an open? Are all 3 (6?) weapons starting at 8am? Is it foil-only?

-B :)

Okay... now i have the paper in front of me.
No you do not have to be a usfa member, we know its the same day as the Maine State Open, we were just hoping that some of the people who either havent done, or dont like electric will show up, and all registration starts at 9:30, competitions at 10:00. There will be a group for 12 and under and a group for 13 and up. All fencers must have their weapons and equipment inspected and marked prior to the beginning of the competition. Trophies will be awarded in each category with more than five competitors. Preregistration is strongly encouraged to allow us to better plan the event. Please make checks payable to Cleon Grover at PO Box 436 Corinna Maine 04928. Feel free to contact Mr. Grover at 207-287-5076.

That enough information?? I accidentally cut of the email though.. sorry.

Wow! Another Maine fencer!! From Hudson no less!! One of my friends lives in Hudson. Coolies.
