Club Competitions

This season is the first time in a long time that our club has run its own internal competition nights (organised by myself).

I was wondering, how many of you ladies and gents have some sort of competition running at the club(s) you fence? What're they like, how do they work? Are they any good, and how do you think they could be improved..?

Thanks

I know that my club hosts foil competitions I think once a month, (i'm sabre) but I don't know how thoughs go. We also have intermurals for little kids to learn about competitive fencing and there are a lot of them.

Have food ready to buy, make sure a lot of people are going to come because it wouldn't be as exciting or fun. umm... I guess just do it as a real tournament. See how this one goes and then you can make and add changes for the next one.

I hope this answered your questions

One of the clubs up here has runs a seperate 3 weapon tournament for kides and adults every year. I'm currently the Foil champion; how bizarre. There's also a buffet thrown for the adults. I got marriage proposals when I made cheesecake one year - which was nice. The only thing that I would like to see improved is the organisation which, although the tournament runs smoothly, always feels laboured. And I am sure that the good fencers are sometimes grouped together deliberately to give the beginners a chance.
