    junior olympics

    are there any sort of opening/closing ceremonies at the junior olympics or are there any sort of events that the fencers participate in while they're there? i'm wondering what there is to do when i'm not fencing besides sitting in my hotel room. i don't fence on sunday and if anyone is familiar with junior olympics and could give me some information, if would be greatly appreciated

    No to the ceremonies. JOs are like a NAC. There are no special activities. Usually there is a table set up at the venue that provides local information on things to do, restaurants, etc. staffed by locals that can answer questions. If we have an off day we do some research before hand to come up with ideas.

    You could go to the venue and watch fencing.... :)

    You could go to Dallas and visit the Museum on the 6th floor of the Book Depository at Dealy Plaza. It's worth the trip.

    No ceremonies. Contrary to the name, the JOs are just a national with a different name.

    If you don't want to watch the fencing, I would highly recommend going to the Dallas World Aquarium and the 6th floor museum, they are right by each other in the West End of downtown Dallas. If you are into BBQ directly in between is Sonny Bryans, one of the best BBQ joints in Texas.
