| Just to add a differing point of view Personally, while I recognize infighting as an important part to a lot of people's games, whenever I get in an infighting situation, it is because of bad distance. Either my opponant closes faster than I can retreat or I recover forward and they step into me. In either case, most of the time I feel that I should be able to correct things and back out of distance and regroup.
When forced to infight it becomes a coin toss situation. To get the point the action must either be extremly clear or one light. Too many times infighting degenerates just random poking, which is just bad technique.
