what is the quality of the footage from Sydney? is it hand cam? or is it the official footage? -
And how come I don't find anything for the 2000 Olypics listed there? -

Array The fencing from Sydney is Eurosport broadcast. The quality is quite good, but there is the occasional, inexplicable Eurosport sudden termination in the middle of a couple of bouts. All-in-all, however, the quality of both the coverage and the fencing is excellent.
I don't think that FencingFootage has anything from Sydney yet.
The tapes to which you are probably referring are those which Eric Dew distributed. It's usually a one time deal but sometimes he has leftovers from "no-pays".
You may want to pmail him to see if there are any leftovers.
Paolo "He is a man of splendid abilities but utterly corrupt. He shines and stinks like rotten mackerel by moonlight." "Every normal man must be tempted at times to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin to slit throats." -

Array What is pmail?
I will post info here after the end of February. I am giving people to the end of February to pay up. Then, any leftovers are offered first-come first-served to those who send in check and mailing label.
I'll give out contact info then.
Hope those who have picked them up (like Paolo) liked the tapes. -

Array Eric:
Pmail = Private message (probably should have said "pmessage")
Often used here in lieu of real e-mail if the real address of the recipient in unavailable.

Array Eric,
I got my sabre tape and appreciate all your work.
(I have to say that the quality of the fencing is a little disappointing, except for the team gold medal match, in which Podzniakov and Charikov put on a real demonstration.)

Array Are you sure the sabre was disappointing? sure, the Russians gave the Frenchies a sabre lesson, and we all got to learn from it as well, but I thought Willy Kothny's footwork was quite impressive. Even George Pogossov, who coaches here at Stanford thought the footwork of young Willy was pretty good. I think watching the footwork (and then trying to emulate it) is a good education in itself. -

Array I am not a fan of Kothny--he relies on a lot of physical ability, and he's very smart and aggressive, but I'm sort of the opinion that he relies too much on his ability to bounce.
Compare his footwork to that of the Russians, which is very precise.
My HO. But the tapes are very instructive and I very much appreciate your efforts to make them available.
Regards, MR
