| Fencing Tapes: 2000 Olympics and 2001 World Championships...ordering info Ok, for the expediency of those who are interested in obtaining various fencing tapes, I have copies of both the 2000 Olympics and the 2001 World Championships fencing tapes.
I can provide more information about the contents, but if you read the previous posts concerning this, you'll get that information straight out.
The ordering form is at:
<a href="http://www.olagrande.net/users/edew/home/tape_order.html." target="_blank">http://www.olagrande.net/users/edew/home/tape_order.html.</a>
Follow the directions as specified.
I did not include the request for donations to Peter G for his son's situation (as I mentioned before). I will as a matter of course send him a percentage from the money I get from the tapes. If you wish to donate to Peter G, make check payable to me, as I will be sending cash to him. Feel free to include a note to him concerning his son's situation.
Any questions should be sent to: edew001@yahoo.com. Don't send to the mailing service of this website (not that I don't like it, but I need to have one location, otherwise things go astray).

| There is just an extra "." at the end of the link. You can open it and just delete the ending "." and reload, or follow this <a href="http://www.olagrande.net/users/edew/home/tape_order.html" target="_blank">http://www.olagrande.net/users/edew/home/tape_order.html</a>

| Just an update:
I have received many orders. I ran out of boxes. I have just ordered some (on-line), and the boxes should arrive at home by Thursday. Unfortunately, that's also when I will be leaving to Columbus OH for the JOs. (I will not be bringing too many tapes orders to JOs.) So, some of you who haven't received any yet will have to wait until mid-next week.
The local Office Depot isn't selling any reasonable sized boxes. They're all huge 12x<W>x<H>. Which makes them unnecessarily expensive, bulky, and a pain to tape up.

| are these tapes still available or have I missed the window? I have the link to the ordering info page, just wanted to know if it's still current or if edew has run out of copies. I'm interested both in the 2001 worlds and in the olympics footage for Men's Sabre only. |

I still have some tapes available. As long as that webpage is there, there are tapes available. I've already have to make additional duplicates of the 2000 Olympics MF tape. And will soon have to make additional duplicates of other tapes as well.

| I have run out of some 2000 Olympics WF tapes. I will make some more. But it does mean that if any of you have ordered them, it will take a bit longer for you to get them.

| my last question is how is the quality of these recordings? And what did the coverage actually cover? Just quarterfinals and up, or are there any tableau bouts, etc.? And does it "skip hits" or show everything. I imagine team matches would eat up lots of time.
I'm only interested in Men's Sabre. I wouldn't mind men's foil too, but frankly, I don't want to have to pay for them. |

| Don't people read the top of the thread?
Go to
<a href="http://www.olagrande.net/users/edew/home/tape_order.html" target="_blank">http://www.olagrande.net/users/edew/home/tape_order.html</a>
and follow directions.
As for the tape quality, all are semi-finals and up. No middle of the tableau bouts, no pool bouts (in the case of the World Championships). They're professionally done, and just taped off the TV coverage (think NBC doing a PGA tournament, but with Swedish commentary). Some events have some fencing action removed. In the 2000 Olympics Men's Foil bronze between Ferrari and Chetvchenko, the bout goes to 3-3 or so, and then a commercial break (which I edited out), and returns at around 13-11 or something like that. But most others are complete to the extent that aside from technical glitches, they include every touch scored.
The 2000 Olympics Men's Sabre is particularly complete, with both semi-final bouts, the bronze medal bout, the gold medal bout, and both the bronze and gold medal team matches. Every single touch. There are some transmission problems in the first semi-final bout (you can see some pixelation, indicating the digital transmission was doing something goofy -- everything on my side is analog).
The 2000 Olympics Men's Foil include a part of the bronze medal bout between Chetvchenko and Ferrari, as stated above, the full bout between Kim and Bissdorf, the complete bronze medal match between Italy and Poland, and part of the gold medal match between China and France (ends abruptly at the 5th encounter).
I'll post a complete description of these tapes on the website soon. Haven't got time.

No, I don't want to pay to have them duplicated, or get boxes for packaging, or pay postage for mailing them either. That's life. They're $20. Take it or leave it.

| Think you misinterpreted me, edew. I didn't mean you were charging too much or that you should give them for free, obviously. I simply meant that I like foil, but not enough to pay for it.
Especially since your American greenback costs me so dearly.... $20 to you is $30 to me.
The 2000 sabre olympics sounds awesome... I'm looking forward to hearing your description of 2001 worlds coverage in sabre.... |
