I started working at a local university,
United States Sports Academy, about two months ago. When I got the job, I was quite surprised because they offer quite a few degrees that I thought would be benefitial to fencers.
First, they only offer sport-specific courses. They have a doctoral program, master's program and have recently added an upper-level bachelor's program.
The doctoral program has majors in sports management and sports medicine.
The master's program has majors in sports management, sports coaching, sports medicine, sports studies, and fitness managemnt.
The bachelor's program consists of the last two years (60 semester hours) of your undergraduate degree. It has majors similar to the master's program.
The university is acrredited through SACS.
Anyway, I thought some of you may be interested. Some of the courses I found paticularly interesting were:
Sports Coaching: Organization and Management in Sports, Psychology of Sports, Sports Coaching Methodology, Scientific Principles of Coaching, Applied Sports Performance Analysis, Sports Medicine, Sports Nutrition, Sports Strength and Conditioning
Sports Management: Fund Raising in Sports, Sports Promotion and Event Planning, Sports Facilities Management
Also, they offer almost all of their classes online (one exception is the doctoral program).
Rolls.
