| Bg Fie the BG FIE seems to be the best priced FIE mask on the market... does anyone have anything to say about it? Comfortable? Reliable?

| I have never owned one but they are basically the same as their "olympic mask, although in theory more likely to stand up to the punch and with a tighter weave on the bib material. Of the few I have seen, two of them failed. One on the puch and the other had gaps/malformations in the mesh weave that the punch went through without having to "punch" it. I would not recommend them.
If you are looking for "cheap" FIE it is hard to go wrong with the Prieur that BG has on special. Very durable masks for the money. Also the newer (they had some problems a few years ago) Negrinni masks are nice and not overly expensive. Realy though, I would suggest the LP or the Uhlmann/Allstar followed by the Prieur, Negrinni or PBT depending on fit/personal preferance.

Their FIE masks have always been rock solid and quite comfortable. |

| Allstar FIE is very comfy. But do you notice that in the flash of the blades? (to paraphrase an idol of mine)

| But, i suppose you'll have to pay draconian prices from blade/BG for an allstar mask, mr DFP?
Where can you Yankees get allstar gear for its proper price?

One more thing....DFP, did you mean the 1600NW, at $105? |

I guess its no different from ordering it from allstar(price wise), but being able to go to a shop and try stuff on/get blades of specific flex would be tres bon. Not having to wait for it to come to NZ and go through customs would be cool, too.

Where can you Yankees get allstar gear for its proper price? | Well, you can get Uhlmann gear (essentially the same) for a little less than Allstar gear. |

Realy though, I would suggest the LP or the Uhlmann/Allstar followed by the Prieur, Negrinni or PBT depending on fit/personal preferance. | i got the prieur and had to send it back. it was a really hard decision since it would have been my first FIE mask but it didn't fit 100% the way i wanted it. i was thinking that for an investment for a long lasting FIE mask it had to at least fit the way i wanted it to. i think my chin is too big for it.. .
it was hard for me to get the mask on and to take it off i had to pull down from the metal tongue and undo the strap instead of pulling the mask up and off from the bib without undoing the strap like i like to and am able to do with my BG mask. thing is, once i got the prieur mask on, it felt fine but it was just a pain to take off and put on and i didn't want to deal with that long term. the mask was the right size, but i guess it wasn't designed for my face structure or something like that.
having said that, i would still recommend it since its very light looks cool and it is FIE after all, just wasn't right for ME. btw, the padding on it is not as excessive as people say. its about the same as the BG olympic mask which i currently own.
i'm going for the LP FIE contour fit now...soon as i get a job... |

The only difference I can spot is that they sell both allstar and Uhlmann equipment (at least masks).
(May I add that the Langenkamp website is HIDEOUS!)

| I also just purchased a Prieur FIE from Blue Gauntlet, and noticed some of the problems Glowstix mentioned above. The invoice claims it is indeed sized medium, but the mask itself is a 2, which, as I gather from Prieur's website, is a "child's" mask. Perhaps this is an error on their part, or 2s are out of stock, as it was on special. Regardless, I've just contacted BG about exchanging it for a size 3, as I was otherwise happy with it. |
