| Schermasport Screwless Epee Tips After recently getting fed up with my LP epee tips, I'm considering switching to the Schermasport screwless epee tips. Has anyone used them long enough to comment on their durability? Also, when rewiring with a used tip, are there any issues adjusting the travel (since they use a solid pin rather than a spring)?
I searched the archives and found some comments, but none of them answered these questions.
Thanks!

| I'm looking at getting some of the points within the year. As soon as my current batch of tips fall apart, which given their current rate should be very soon.
I've heard they last forever. Longer than the blades their put on. That said, putting them together is apparently time consuming, but once done, you have a reliable, never need to be adjusted tip.
To get the travel just right, one needs to file the contact on the wire, not the tip, so when rewiring, it's just wiring for the first time. File the contact to the desired length, and you're good to go.

| Thanks! Filing the cup of the wire rather than the tip eliminates all of my worries. I might just splurge and replace all of my tips with these. I just wish they weren't so expensive.

| be careful i've use during a time some schermasport screwless, they're ok during a moment but when you start to get problem with it, the series start.
the little plastic ring inside break often.
if you want some very good point try the carmimari épée system, of course you've screw, but the point slide better than for the schermasport model, in the tip.
good point for the both system when you've prepare them you'll have no problem with the gauge control |

| Could you describe how the carmimari system works? They don't seem to have any information on their web site.

| first you've screws just as a german or french system, but as normal for an italian system you've just 1 spring it's the pressure one, you've no contact spring but a little brass shank.
the head point slide very well in the tip, and all the system is very well adjusted.
in my opinion this system is better than the schermasport one because it's stronger, the screwless system had too much problem with this little plastic ring inside
i'll try to get a more precise description of this system. |

| That sounds like a good system. Have you compared them with the Schermasport ones with screws? Or the smooth action of the LP Super-Glide?
Thank you so much for your input!

| On their Negrini website, Schermasport has a epee point, with screws, that seems to only have a pressure spring. Anyone familiar with it? |

| i've compare with the schermasport with screw, the carmimari's one is stronger, but in general the system is the same.
i haven't make any comparaison with the LP system, just because i've been disapointed with some leon paul stuff in the past, so i haven't bought anything since this.
just one thing the wire of the schermasport don't work on the carmimari model, it's just as if you've a BMW, the pieces from Mercedes don't work on it.
But in general the italian system are really stronger than french and german system, the 2 problem for me it's the price and you just find them in Italy.
For the price it could be ok if you compare how long you keep this system,......it's a long long time, normally until your blade broke, and sometimes it's possible to take the wire from the old blade to put it on a new one.
when i've start to use it i was curious and sceptical: is it good?it's expensive!! if it's so good why everyone don't get them?
and i've no regret about it, all my épées are with this kind of system, and no problem |
