| Fencing in classic rock I was reading an issue of classic rock at barnes and noble today, and on page 32, it showed a picture of bruce dickinson holding a rapier, and it tells about him fencing, and training with the british olympic team. Apparently he's still fencing or something. Just thought I'd let yall know.

| Yeah,
An fencing friend of mine from Scotland used to fence with Bruce and said that he wasn't too bad. He really does/did fence and once flew my friend and some other fencers to a competition. |

| Yes, he is training in foil, and he is amphidextrus. Sometimes in the middle of the game he change hand and confuse his oponent.
He is a duelist afterall...

| My coach fenced him. He describes him as, "Funny, in a rock star kind of way." Although he was a good fencer he never really made it internationally. His career kinda got in the way... If I was Bruce and I was given the choice I know which career I would take. |

| I fenced him years ago. He came to a foil open at Santelli's in New Jersey. I was thinking "who's the dude with the long hair", then heard him speak and revised that to "who's the dude with the long hair and really strong British accent". Anyhow, he was an pretty okay fencer, made it into the final of 6 (I think he came in 5th - but this is a looong time ago), and was surprised and pleased to get a medal. He was actually very nice - he offered a lift into NYC for anybody that wanted it. I invited him to come down to the NYFC and he took me up on it, and went fencing their the following week. Struck me as a pleasant guy who really liked fencing

| ambidextrous?/maybe its just me.
YES!!! Not alone anymore!!!
I can only fence right handed though. Parent's refuse to buy both types of kit. Dang.
Been told many times i should fence left handed and annoy all the right-handers that way.
Though i know how annoying it is and am very tempted to try it, theres no point because i've got a right handed jacket and glove, and 3 swords so it would be expensive to do both.
I started right handed because no one knew i was an ambi. So to be the same as every1 else, i fenced right.

His persona on-stage is an act.
It was interesting at a Hacke'N'Slash tournament in Victorville he went to. Every record and CD in Victorville and the surounding cities got sold out and everyone came to get his autograph. The organizers said he would sign autographs, but not to come up to him except between rounds. They were well behaved. It was strange what what brought up to be autographs. One guy brought his dog that looked like the dog from 'Little Rascals' and these 2 teenagers in front of the Armory were discusing whether that should just pull up the band above their skirts or take off their panties for him to sign.
It is the most crowded amount of spectators I ever saw at a fencing tournament.
