| No one in my family had ever fenced before i did.
Now my dad does, same weapon as me because if he takes me to the opens he may as well fence too (in the mens section of course.)
It started off him just fencing every so often when it was too far (or he couldn't be bothered) to drive all the way back from my club just to come get me again.
He intended to borrow club kit and do a few easy competitions...
...Now he has three FIE swords, a FFE jacket, breeches, mask, glove, socks, shoes. Etc and goes to every competition I do to watch/support me (and to fence in every competition he can!)
I warned him it was a great, addictive sport, but did he listen? No... Now who's laughing because he has to fork out the cash for two sets of entry fees, kit, repairs, upgrades, etc.
Mwah hah hah hah!

| Neither of my parents was athletic in the least. My sister holds a black belt in tong soo do karate and now practices tai kwon do (or however it's spelled).

| If memory serves, John Paul Jones, the American Naval hero, was originally named John Paul. He added the Jones while fleeing from England to escape prosecution for killing someone in a duel. A combative bunch, those Pauls.
