Hmm... Code 40, Laser, and a few old clinker-built whalers and cutters (although I spent most of my time in them sweeping)...

Fun stuff, I wish I was still able to do it.

I sail from time to time. Unfortunately, there isn't any really good sailing place for small boats at my skill level where I am.

He asked about the skill of 'sailing', not the size of the actual boat.

As a trailerable boat, it seems kinda cool to take to new places and get there fast, and then use the speed of the motor sailer to get somewhere quickly on the water to spend the reset of the time sailing around in leisure. But.. $20 K is $20 K.. so I'm looking at the moment.
The 26X does not sail well. It also doesn't motor particularly well either. It's an interesting compromise but most definitely a compromise. We have a three of them in our area (one in our marina) and while they're okay, they're nothing like the older 25 or 26 Classic that were actually fast, and their owners will say as much about them. You can buy a lot of used boat for under 20K and get much more in the way of performance or comfort depending on what your goal is, even in the trailerables. Catalina, Hunter, Columbia, and Oday just to name a few manufacturers built trailer-sailers in that range that were fairly good performers, and appointed a bit more solidly than the 'gregors. We owned a 23 for a couple years and had a blast with it, but we found it was too cramped for overnights, and frankly we sail to relax not to race.
