Array Be Warned! By the second week of January, I intend to get started on the novelization of Arconia (book 1...up to the cliff). I'll take what we have written so far. If new scenes need to be added, they could be added later. Name changes, etc. can take place later as well. It will be like Moon Willow in that it will be fleshed out more, adding description & background to make it more believable (for a fantasy). But it will include the characters present on the board, with some incidental exceptions that we've already discussed.
I've met my goal of finishing my own pirate novel's rewrite by the end of the year (with a few days to spare). Now, I'm waiting for an author friend of mine to get back to town so that he can look it over. He returns Jan 6th. Now that the dirty business of editing is over, my muse is desperate for some writing action.
So, consider yourselves warned.
By the way, we need to come up with a good name for the "author" who wrote the book. Maybe a name with all of our first initials in it, somehow...lol
Ok, maybe not... "Words are, of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind."

I'm sure a good name can be fabricated to work the best for what we have. Definitely a suitable nom de plume. "Words are, of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind."

Array I still say it would be great if it could just be published under "The Seven". It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us the freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who gives us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protestor to burn the flag. - Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC -

Array "Ace Achilles"
means "unity" (Ace) & "strength" (Achilles) "Words are, of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind."

Array Umm...not quite the same idea. It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us the freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who gives us the freedom to demonstrate. Array "The Seven" isn't true, so it couldn't be published under that name. There have been more or less than seven authors at any given time thoughout the years. It refers to a specific group of people, but excludes others that made an important contribution to the story.
Nice, but unfair, idea. "Words are, of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind."

Array Ok, after some discussion, the following was determined:
1. Some character names will have to be changed in order to keep us from legal problems. Most important on the list is "Arconia." There already appears to be a kingdom of sorts called Arconia. It was suggested we change the name to "Orcania." Arcon can keep his name, I'd think, but Zarcon would have to be changed (see Voltron & others...name's been used a lot).
Buffy of Schoolcraftia will be changed. To what, I don't know. I kinda think "Moon" is a cute alias, so I'm thinking of keeping that one.
I know a couple of people who have characters in later storylines wanted to change their character names. You have plenty of time to think about that.
2. A determination of where we want to start the story (popular vote is the evening of Arcon's coronation) & want to end it has to be made. So far, we're leaning toward the incident on the cliff. BUT what could be a problem is this: Moon Willow was over 300 pages from the time Moon got to Arconia to just after the cliff incident. We're planning on adding more to the story than what is in it now. We have to be very careful about this, because if it's TOO big, a publisher or agent won't want something that long from a first time author.
3. I guess I'm writing the novelization. I'll be keeping people updated & in contact, especially if I need to ask questions or we need to make changes.
I'm also thinking that, to avoid being bogged down with EVERYONE's background info in the book, only stuff that needs to be told (to further the plot) should be told. Some things can be left to another book. I mean, I don't want to box us in. Let's not limit ourselves. This could be huge.
Oh, yes...also, we need to come up with a fair way of dispensing with the money. I know that several authors have teamed up before, so it can happen. Maybe someone to act as the spokesperson for the group?
Well, that's it for now. If anyone has any ideas, comments, etc. go for it! "Words are, of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind."
