Array I live in the south, so I don't really ever split wood.
EDIT: The only times I ever have was when my friends had a lot of wood left over from a project they did, and then we used mauls (the modern kind with the axe blade) and what a friend of mine calls marine power.
Is it cold where you live?

Hello. -
09-13-2005 12:06 PM #12062 Today it's supposed to get close to 90F. But in winter it does get cold. I use mauls and wedges...relaxing, in a cathartic kind of way.
What kind of trees do you have there? Any hardwoods? Some will sell their dreams for small desires -

Array ummm. not sure what actually counts as a hard wood, but we have lots of magnolias, oaks, pines, and assorted others.
What constitutes hardwood versus softwood? -
09-13-2005 12:48 PM #12064 Hard woods are, well, hard. They are denser-solid like walnut, oak, ash and the like, as opposed to pine, poplar, hemlock, etc...

09-13-2005 01:58 PM #12066 Because you obviously forgot to set your alarm.

Array Nope. And there was no reason to set my alarm, as there's nothing specific that I needed to get up for.
What did you have for breakfast? -

Array Orange Juice and Animal Crackers.
Sounds good? That's it, I'm done with the discussion forums on F.net. It's had its uses, but the ideologues, ranters, and "experts" have drowned too many of the conversations. I'm changing my password to something random and never logging in again. -

Do you eat breakfast? A synonym is a word you use when you can't spell the word you first thought of. -

Array I try to, but half the time sort of get busy and forget, because I'm running around getting everyone ELSE fed and clothed and out the door. Then WHAM it's lunchtime and I'm ready to eat roadkill, but it's also time for the second feeding of the OTHERS so I get nothing but somebody's leftover PB&J crusts.
Why don't I weigh 110 pounds if I never remember to eat and I fence fence fence??? -
