USA Lumber Lobby

The American Lumber Lobby is forcing the US government to break world trade laws. Despite continually being ruled illegal by the World Trade Organization, the US commerce department is continuing with duties on Canadian lumber. The only ones to benefit from these duties of course are American lubmer producers. American construction firms must pay more for lumber which means consumers must pay more for houses or anything produced with lumber.

The WTO has given the green light for Canada to impose duties on American imports and Canadian exports to the US. Actually this goes further than Canadian lumber as many countries have been given the green light to impose duties on American goods as the US commerce department continues to ignore international trade laws and impose illegal duties on a number of foriegn goods

Odd first post. Probably someone just logging on to any message boards that can be found to cut-and-paste a canned message.

Without getting into the merits of the canned message, I wonder how effective a tactic that would be for getting one's message out in a meaningful effective way.

Well, but it probably makes the committed activist feel good, which I suspect is the most important thing at bottom.

You'd think they could at least include some information about the updated rules governing how federal forest lands are managed. Short blurb on the news tonight about the rules being changed (allowing more local control which is being viewed by various environmental groups as a move towards allowing for more lumbering, mineral/oil exploitation, and ATV use).
