    Silicon??

Does anyone know how silicon works as a glue for re-wiring?

I have yet to try it myself, but a friend of mine uses (white) silicone for her épées. Works like a charm and looks rather cool!

Edit: Forgot to mention it's great as it's flexible.

Well. I'm not a foilist but I suppose it would rather much work in the same way...

They're both blades that has wiring to be attached in some way. The only thing is that the foils' groove is smaller than that of an épée so it might be trickier to apply the silicone.

you mean silicone, with an e at the end. big difference between sand, which is a silicon oxide, and the rubbery sealant, which is silicone.

it sounds like it would work, i'll give it a shot next time i rewire

So i tried it. its drying now. it looks like its gunna turn out well. I got it in the groove by putting it on my finger and then just stuffing it in the groove, then put the wire in and then just covered the top w/ it. It doesnt act like super glue on your fingers and you can easily wash it off. Now all i have to do is let it dry. its taking a while to dry but i guess thats o.k. if your not on pressed time.

I look forward to hear more about this when it's dried and you've fenced a bit with it!

... this is groundbreaking stuff! Armourers are always using established techniques - perhaps you have hit on a simple fix that others can use so please keep us all informed!

I tried using silicone, I find that its abit weak and does not adhere strong enough. Perhaps there are stronger types of silicone?
