Lammet foil blade

I am considering getting another foil weapon, and am considering the Lammet FIE foil blades. Does anyone here use them? How are they? And where can I find a good price for it from a vendor?

I've got one. It's stiff as a poker, and more point heavy than most blades. Not a favorite of mine-- BFs remain my first choice.

Most Lammet blades I know of in the US are sold through Blade and Physical Chess http://www.blade-fencing.com/cgi-bin...1560616206281+. I tend to think they are a bit expensive for what is a somewhat mediocure to average FIE blade. IMHO you would do much better with a Vniti, Prieur, LP or StM blade. All of those are about the same price as the Lammet depending on where you buy them from. And in case I have not mentioned it before, Vniti makes the best foil blades in the world as far as I am concerned for about the same price as a Lammet. Their price/value/durability combo just can't be beat. I have also been quite happy with the Prieur Chevalier FIE blades. Very light and fast, good durability for the price and a nice and fast overall feel. The Fencing Post and Blue Guantlet sell them.

For the LP blades, LP USA is the best place to reliably get them although when Saul has them the Fencing Post is almost $40 dollars cheaper (sorry Craig). For the StM either ELI or the Fencing Post. For the BF/Uhlmann either the Fencing Post or Triplette (their house brand is BF although many consider the Uhlmann and Cartel stamped BF blades to be superior, myself included) and for the Prieur FIE either The Fencing Post or Blue Gauntlet. Hope all that was some help.

I don't mean to say you're wrong Cville, but I have a Vniti and the Prieur FIE blades. Everyone says that Vniti has the heaviest blade, and that the Prieur is light. And yet, I think the Prieur is probably the heaviest blade I've ever used, while the Vniti is pretty light. What's up with that?

You can chalk that up to variation, either within the batch of blades or within the parts you're using.

I tried Vnitis and liked them, except they felt heavy to me. One of my friends has a newer Vniti, and it's really light.

All the Chevalier and Prieur Sport blades I've tried have been extremely light. I'd love them if they didn't kink, immediately and horribly.

The older (pre-03) Vniti blades were a bit on the heavy side. The newer Vniti blades are about on pare with BF FIE white, maybe a tad heavier depending on the batch as Darius says. The Chevalier blades are very light weight.

When people say that a blade feels "heavy" it is often how it is set up. The type of grip used, the cant of the blade, the socket, pad and especially the guard go a long way to determining the weight of the actual weapon and if it "feels" light or heavy. Also balance is a funny and very personal thing. What feels very "light" to one fencer may be because its balance is at the guard, on the forte or in the hand. In short, wherever the balance point that the person holding it things it "should" be for them and rather or not that matches up goes a long way towards determining the "feel" or perceived weight of the blade.

Hope that made some sense and cleared it up some!
