| Follow up on Beware of These Guys I am hoping this does not get deleted out right. Please at least let people see this.
I was the original poster on that thread. Due to various things,(my club essentially closing, trying to finally finish a graduate degree, etc.) I'm not very active on this board, or in the local fencing community at this point. I was stunned to find that someone had dug up this thread so long after I'd posted it and had an objection.
I certainly understand what Gav is saying, but please be aware I did not post this out of grudge of some kind. There was an article on this in my local newspaper. I would assume that they do careful research on these things.
I have never met either of the people who were accused and had never heard of them in the local fencing community until this event, which was one thing I found odd since although I'm poor fencer, and far from an expert the local community, I was semi-familiar with the regular players. After asking around at my club, I found one person who said they might have known someone who might have known them, that was it.
I found out about the accusations from a family member who said, "Hey, there's an article about fencers in the paper today". Imagine my disappointment when I found out what the article was about. This, I feel, is one those rather be safe than sorry situations and considering the seriousness of the allegations I will take the chance of having ruined reputations on my conscience.
But I do agree, let's not turn this into a war.
I would like to state, I am not trying to start or revive a war. I have seen character assassination go on on this board before, and have not liked it at all. My original intention was simply to provide a "heads up". I did just want to let you know that the post did not stem from a desire on my part to "get" anyone, and it came from what I assumed was a legitimate source.
Thanks.
