Array Suggestions, please Hi everyone,
I'm a bit new to this forum thing... I'm a fencer in the U.K. and over the Christmas break we will be re-modelling our club website to make it bigger and (hopefully) better. Does anyone have any suggestions for improvement? The address for our current site is: http://www.readingfencingclub.net.
Thanks for all your help. -
Looking briefly at your website, it seems like it could benefit by a "coaches" page. Just a page that prominently features the coaches, with some info about them. -

Array Hey Zilverzmufen - you changed your Avatar! -

Array Yep! (I'm a great fan of Tintin and this is my fave album.)
Besides, the other avatar was the Coat of Arms of the Swedish Fencing Federation, celebrating their 100th anniversary this year. And since 2004 is almost over... -

Array Thanks, ladies and gents, all your comments are welcome !
P.S. Please ignore The Armourer, he's my dad... -

Array And as for suggestions for your clubs website (having a look at it at the moment) may I suggest the usage of less colours?
Looking at the main page there's a black background, links on the left are red, your clubs name is written in light blue and yellow, the rotating club "patch" is in a colour that is probably supposed to look like gold (but looks more like "Found-in-a-diaper-colour"...) and to top it all off the background of the i-frame ("Latest News" scrollable window) is brown... *phew*
I do absolutely not claim to be an expert but may I suggest a somewhat more homogenous (spelling?) colour theme?
I'm writing this as constructive criticism only, no offense meant, as I think the site is overall very informative! -

Array Oh yes... ...and the links are blue...
Although blue being my favourite colour you could make links looking nicer than the "standard" blue. Eg. underlined or under/overlined on mouseover.
Or like normal underlined text that gets highlighted in another colour on mouseover. -
What does "par" mean, as in par excellence? -

Thanls for that :-) We've realised that the colour scheme needs to be simplified, a lot, as it's a bit tooooo colourful at the moment... We're also looking to reduce the number of frames on the site, by using something called CSS.
Cheers for your comments :-) -

I guess there's no one translation that hits the spot exactly, but it sort of means 'by/with' excellence; like saying 'we are zee best'... -
Fluff stuff like photos and graphics, etc. is nice. But be sure to include the basics:
1. Location your club fences at.
2. Times your club fences, and which weapon programs.
3. Contact information.
4. Club fees and other legal and administrative stuff.
5. A complete and frequently updated listing of all official and non-official events and tournaments for at least the next three months.
Almost no websites in my area do #5 and it's really irritating. Similar Threads -
