Array word of mouth - mouth of pain
the things i hear drive me insane
all the time and everyday
all the things that people say
about the pain of living life
it cuts me like a deadly knife
i crumble in my thoughts and soul,
my heart burns like a glowing coal
but I feel rather guilty at how i sting
im not even the one suffering -

Array when i get home late tonight
Ill do something outa spite
ill tear your spirit and rip your soul
ill get revenge for my time you stole
you shoulda known from the start
that I would break your simple heart
I dont quite know how you couldnt see
that you are no good to me
its your fault and its too late
you chose your own stupid fate
so far you have no fucking clue
but im not the girl you thought you knew -

Array Swift, a poetry thread! It's been a year since I've written any kind of poems (good thing too, they all sucked ). Well, here's one in case anyones interested. I posted it on another message board awhile ago, so if you google it up, odds are you'll find my other writings.
Venus Rising
The sun falls, and the day is through
The stars come out once more
I look west and I think of you
Then dream of days before
I see the starlight gleaming
Its like the sun upon the sea
I then wonder how you're dreaming
Are you by chance dreaming of me?
To watch, and wish upon a star
Is such a thing worthwhile?
My wish seems like a thing too far
Much more than any mile.
If dreams can be reality
Then venus, hear my plea
Goddess of love and beauty
Please send my love to me.
Let her know my hearts sincere
I don't have ill intentions
All that I want is to be near
if she wants my fond attentions.
Its just a dream, a fantasy
Yet its all thats in my heart.
So Venus, send my love to me
Please don't keep us apart.

Array From the point where it begins,
Take your loveless knife and twist and turn it in.
Drown me and mock me with original
Sin.
Though no-one sees, and no-one understands
It looks to me like you've got some blood on your hands.
Drown out the noise and the fury of the reprimands
Again.
But I don't wanna be your sad thing,
Losing my memory, choking on nicotine, no.
I don't wanna be your salty-eyed heroine.
Won't be your Juliet, won't be your Joan of Arc,
Won't be your Marilyn.
Draw this truth another time.
You can take what you want, 'cause it was never mine.
Throw me a noose but you can't throw me a line, though you
Try. "What did I tell you about being stupid? You don't get a birthday this year." -

Array That's too freaking depressing for my taste.
Nice homophones there, though. Clever.
How about
Sleet strikes my window
Tomorrow it will be gone;
Will I remember? Freedom of speech makes it easier to spot the idiots. -

Array While there are some good poems in this thread (Tazz's strike me as being vivid but exceptionally dark) my favourite so far has been in fact by DFP, although I haven't taken more than a cursory glance at most.
Here's a gem of mine that was (fittingly, I feel) commended in a school poetry festival when I was 11.
Determination

Something wasn't right...
Dying fish floated in the ocean...
The penguin through the sea, determined...
Please send items of adulation to room 207, I'll be there all week. People don't dance no more (what!?),
They just stand there like this (that's right!),
They cross their arms and stare you down and drink and moan and dis (OK now!). -

Array This isn't actually a poem, its part of the lyrics to a song I wrote, but whatever; its still some form of poetry
When people only see beauty
At the bottom of a bottle
Or the bottom of a bubble
When the things around you
Don't look the same
When all you can do
Is plungd into emotions
And let them take controle
You have to be careful
When dancing this dangerous dance
You have to stay concious
Or you'll never stand a chance
But I guess its meant to happen anyway
So I promise to remind you when you wake up
That you were here and it wasn't all just a dream
Brought on by the drugs you slipped down with your drink

When love bites, be sure to bite back.

Rule #2 Don't trick yourself into thinking you suck.
Rule #3 Remember, bad footwork makes coach cry. -

Array Its a piece I was particularly fond of from a poem I wrote (more like a lyrical form of a long winded rant...)
Oh please, don’t apologize
I should have known
See, things like this will happen
When you let something so fragile
Be so bold
