| i use gaim, it is teh awesome
it works just like aim, but it supports all of the clients (msn/yahoo/etc.) and has an irc outlet also. quite good, has all hte features you'd want, and you can script your own plugins if you want. free, too.
i voted for aim, though, because i don't actually USE the other services. |

| In leiu (sp?) of Noodle throwing out his support for Gaim, I'm gonna toss my preferred client into the mix. I absolutely love Trillian. Well the version I use is Trillian Pro 2.0. This program is not, unfortunately, free. Although I'm sure if you look you might have a friend that has a copy that they aren't using anymore .
If you ever decide to IM me throw in (@) that makes a cat smiley pop up and it even makes a meow noise!
EDIT: Trillian also supports MSN, Yahoo!, ICQ, and IRC (although I would never, ever use the IRC client it is super ugly!)

| I use AIM, which is okay...
And XFire, which rocks! It doesn't have ads, it's faster and easier to start up. It doesn't quit out of any games, and, as a matter of fact, allows you to message WHILE playing most games. It even lets you join friends' games...
It, unfortunately, doesn't let you share files, but other than that, XFire is far superior to AIM. |

Most people that I know use MSN. |

Aim express at work since that's all that gets through the firewall.....it's buggy though.

| IM? What is that? It's a personal issue, but I do not currently use any Intellectual Midgets. There is nothing wrong with using an Intellectual Midget service, I prefer to work problems out for my self though.

| I think a lot of it depends on where you're from. From my observations AIM is much more popular in the Northeast, while MSN is more popular in the west.
I think that things like GAIM and Trillian need not be included, since they are just different programs using the same services. |
