Wacky fencing related dream

I had the weirdest dream last night. Have you ever twisted a paperclip so a piece of it is connected to the rest by a tiny little bit of metal? When its able to be flicked off, because its barely connected to the paperclip.

But anyway, I had a dream that that had happened to my foil - My coach said "dont bend it too much" and when i did bend it, there was no force behind it. I was also really sad....

Wacky.

Has anyone else had fencing related dreams? Im sure you have...

one time.. i had this dream.. that i went to a compitition.. and all the people that i had to fence were penguins.. so i couldn't stab them.. beacuse they are the one true god.. soo i kept having to do like.. magical spells to get points on them.. and eventually there was this godly voice over the intercom telling me i had a black card, for disrespecting the penguins, and kicked off of the world for having a black card in fencing.. and i went to the moon.. and they only fence with.. licorice on the moon... so i was sad.. beacuse you had to do it all saberish

it was very strange

i think most fencers have strange fencing dreams...

Whether or not you are making that up, that's pretty funny. I like it.

Should of dreamed about DiFrancesca and Pigliapoco instead.. both are way hotter. I can't watch anything fencing if I want to go to sleep.. it gets me so pumped up that I work myself into a frenzy like a crazed grooming squirrel.

Anytime I have a medal in my possesion, I KNOW I'm definitely dreaming, so a wacky dream is anytime I lose in a dream, which happens before every tournament.

The worst fencing dreams are on the plane on the way back from a large tournament, and you fall asleep, and you fence your last bout that you lost in your mind and whenever you try to lunge you suddenly wake up realizing you just hit the seat in front of you. Yes, this has happened multiple times, the worst of which was my first open NAC (back when they were opens).

This happened to me on the way back from my last NAC actually =P I didn't hit the seat in front of me, but I kept jumping and woke up, not always just the last touch, but at the end of any touch that I was replaying in my head. I think the person sitting next to me was thoroughly confused =D

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, there were "Open NACs" that have been replaced by Div 1. Anybody could enter (at their own risk, of course). I think I went in as a D (and came out the same, after getting my rear handed to me by an A in the DE to make the 2nd day). I can still remember that bout though, and I've never let the guy beat me again.

But to get back to the question, they stopped being open after the 99-00 season, and the div 1 requirement was only d and above for the 00-01 season.

Man, this makes me feel old, coupled with not being able to fence junior anymore (accursed fall birthdays). I'm going to go take my geritol complete and drink an ensure now...

weren't those also the days when the scoring light conventions were the reverse of what they are now??

I know that the lights were the reverse in the '98 Summer nationals, and as I recall the same held in the '98-'99 season. I believe touches scored were, at that point, valued instead of touches received when totalling pool sheets though - that was also the era of the 4 minute 5 touch bout, which was changed more recently than the lights.

Well, currently that is all you really need to dream about fencing. Black and white. (and grey)

If I remember correctly, it was a long time ago. I had a dream that I was working in a cubicel office and someone stole something and no one would fight them. The only point object I had was a pencil so I fought them with a pencil and stabbed them in the arm or hand or something and then the cops took them away.
