| I always liked Nightcrawler better as a pirate when he's using 3 swords. What kindof parry is that suppose to be in the second page. It looked like he parried a chop into his forehead. |

| I used to wonder where Nightcrawler got his fencing equipment (especially gloves and shoes). Then I read in the American Fencers Supply catalogue that purchasers are encouraged to specify particular physical quirks, and they actually list the prehensile tail. So now I know!

The initial story was Devil by the Deed, which took place in current times (roughly the 80's) and was written by Matt Wagner.
The main character was Hunter Rose, who was also a masked villain who went by the name Grendel. In his youth he was a champion fencer, and the big turning point in his life was at a large international event in England when he was 14.
Some of his stories contain some shots of him practicing, and one later story was about the competition in London. It even had drawings of fencers taken from photos (I recognized Ivan Trevejo) complete with details like Adidas socks and shoes...
Anyway, great comic.

| Just noticed, on the second page there--in the top panel Nightcrawler is fencing right-handed, and then he's shown getting the touch left-handed.

| Look at the second panal on page two, then check out the first result I found on google image search. http://www.magnesium.net/~sez/fencin...ui_kor_hjp.jpg
Saaaay, this picture on the first page of google image search looks familiar. http://www.unb.ca/web/bruns/9900/iss...ts/fencing.jpg
Nothing wrong with it I suppose. I guess I spend too much time online looking at fencing photos. I wouldn't be surprised if there's more out there than what I've pointed out.
