    Music and Fencing

What does music do for the rest of you. I find that it helps me keep a tempo for my bout, and a constant rythm

Unfortunately, if I hear music while on the strip, I'll start thinking of how it could be done by a drum corps (or, if it's familiar, what corps actually DID it) instead of concentrating on my fencing!

The perils of being a musician, I suppose...

Music is so great! I listen to it all of the time. When I fence it keeps me in tempo, when I climb it pumps me up and makes me work harder, when I dance it keeps me moving, when I work on things it keeps my head straight, when I practice my bassoon it helps me concentrate (though, I can only listen to rock whilst practicing.. or else I'll practice to the beat of the music and mess up the song that I'm working. Plus, rock helps my tonguing speed up.) Music is great for everything.

I can only listen to rock. I do have trouble sometimes though if I am familair with the song I tend to think about the chords. It helps overall though

I bet fencing with music.. like normasl music would help me.. but it also might keep me in a steady beat.. and not a tempo change..

one of my friends used to sing "row row row your boat..." while we were bouting.. and he would attack.. right on the beat.. but sence it was right after marching band season.. i was keeping in step with his beat... soo he just sped up a little and got like.. 4 really easy hits!

it really deoendso n the song..k if it is like.. a non lyrical one.. if i have played it before for band.. that woudl be a bad thing.. beacuse i would be thinking about my clarinet fingerings... and how hard the run they just played was and all that stuff.. but.. normal music would probably help.. mabey..

I enjoy Jethro Tull on the way to a club or tournament. Or anywhere else. So I guess that doesn't count.

Proper fencing music? It makes me want to hurt someone.

    Really f#@^ing bad.

It's very simple, Rock turns me on, Bach turns me off.

    CD's for next toury:

Axis Bold As Love, The Razor's Edge, High Voltage, Goldberg Variations

Its futile to resist the powers of T'allica. It's like rhythm, cause like Gloria Estefan said, it's gonna get ya....especially when fencing.

Seriously though, it seems like every guy that I know is a Metallica fan and wants me to become one. It's starting to freak me out... because I know that there can't be some sign saying "Get Sarah to love Metallica"

Metallica sets the standard for metal in the past, and hard rock in the represent. There are simply very few rock bands that can tell you they were not the least bit influenced somehow, albeit by degrees of separation, by T'allica. If you really don't like their music but have tried, that's okay too. That just means us guys will have to try harder and actually make a sign.

Does a bear take a crap in the woods and wipe its butt with a fluffy white rabbit? Yes! Well, I at least am not trying to get you into Metallica, but rather trying to get you out of not liking them. Name your terms, and I will do my best to meet them in my crusade to get all forumites to love the T'allica. I'm sure my fellow cohorts will agree.....
