Totally different names too, not normal names you'd hear every day - totally different, from different cultures/countries etc.
Apologized for hours, and residually for days, and into the future every time it came up in conversation.

Array great date, driving her home, and i called her by her full name, except it was someone elses full name. The problem was, the person who i called her was named (different anmes) ellen hunt (last girl i dated) and her name is ellen heart. The names are so similar it screwed me up. She didn't say anything and it took me like10 seconds to catch it. Wasn't that horrible. -
Dude, that's tough. Those names are so close. Especially if you spent any kind of time with the former girlfriend. It would just be reflex.
Never made the name mistake myself. I have been called by the wrong name. I dated a girl who had the same boyfriend since like the 3rd grade through college. Everytime I managed to make her angry she'd blurt this guys name at me. It bugged me until I figured out that her calling me by the wrong name trumped whatever I had done stupid. Also I was not above using guilt sex to play out whatever fantasy I had at the moment. You may want to suggest that Ellen Heart do the same. Should you walk on the road less traveled, watch your step. -

Array Yes, I did. She got pissed. Tada. The solution to your problem is to fence another weapon. -
Nope, come close but luckily caught myself.
We were joking at Thanksgiving dinner about a story that happened to my uncle and his current wife about 15 years ago... he introduced her to the party as the wrong name, the name of a past girlfriend (he had dated lots of Lindas and Nancy's, for some strange reason... this was a Nancy, he introduced her as Linda). My aunt didn't want to speak up and embarass herself and her boyfriend (at the time) so she went about the party ignoring people that called her Linda, so everyone thought she was a total stuck up snob that wouldn't talk to anyone. He still gets sh!t for it but it's good for a nice laugh now, and they turned out ok! -

Array I've forgotten close friend and or family member's names while introducing them. Didn't go over very well. "Wars may be fought with weapons, but they are won by men. It is the spirit of men who follow and of the man who leads that gains the victory." - George S. Patton -

Array Yeah I forget everyone's names! I'm so bad with names. I've introduced friends around and gotten them all mixed up some of them get annoyed, others who know what a flake I am just laugh at me and then I realise what I've done and correct it. I have forgotton my own name before... I wasn't in my right mind at the time... "The pen may be mightier than the sword - except for in a duel."

Array I once called Mr Louweasel by his big brother's name. But they are quite alike in some mannerisms, and I did know the brother for several years before I even met Mr Louweasel, never mind started courting. Louweasel

So smooth shan-a-funk... so smooth... can you blame it on being all doped up on pain killers? or was this pre-wrist operation?

Array I've learned, through extensive field study, it's always a good thing to say your current date's name.
If you get the name wrong, well, it's never, ever good. I could go into details, but those stories are best told over a drink... We're no threat, people, we're not dirty, we're not mean

Array People ask me my name and I have to think about it for about thirty seconds. It's even longer if they ask me my age or grade... Proditio plerumque amatur, proditor odio habetur.

It's kinda funny because people start to think I'm retarded when it takes me 5-10 seconds to answer what my age is. Especially since I'm really concentrating the whole time, trying to figure it out.

Array *sigh* I completely understand. You and I both have a specialness. Do not worry, we are quite intellegent, we just don't like to show it. For me, I have to count how long it's been since I was last in school to figure out my grade. So I stand there just saying "Ok, seventh, then eighth.. nineth.. yes! ok! It's tenth. No.. wait? seventh.. eighth.. nineth, tenth. Um. You know, I don't really know." And then my age... *sigh* "Ok, so my sister is two years younger than me, so I'm..." It's really weird. (and sad) They end up in fits of laughter. Though, if I'm talking with a guy, they get this smirk and smile and then give me a hug and walk me around with them, kind of like I don't know what I'm doing. (Meanwhile I'm just thinking, wow, you know this is the fifth guy to do this to me. I must smell nice, remember to get some more of that shampoo...) Hehehe, I live in my own little world... Proditio plerumque amatur, proditor odio habetur.

Array To avoid this specific faux pas a good friend of mine always refers to his current girlfriend as darlin. Oddly enough it seems to work. Not to recognize the power of the Titanium Spork is to be in denial. -

I should point out the poll misses the option;
Name? Why would I want to know that? Similar Threads -
