Array Meltdown Anybody following the Ron Artest incident? I am referring to the Ron Artest of the Indiana Pacers, and not Ron Artest of Salle Wanafence. Comments? Whats the worst behavior observed during a fencing event? -
I stopped following basketball entirely after the debacle in Athens. Dream Team, indeed.
That said, the worst behavior I've ever seen was when a sabrist threw his mask at a director after he lost the bout on what he considered "questionable" calls.
Of course. I think that was in...1995? 1996? Something like that, though I don't remember quite where. The sabrist was rather rightfully black carded. Why? Two reasons. Because someone has to, and because I can. -

My fav story is Cerioni (ITA) making an obscene gesture to a Spanish dignitary at the World's and being banned for a year from FIE competition.
Or the French and Cuban teams getting into a fight, and only the Cuban team getting black carded, even though the French team started it.
Or a photo of the '89 worlds, women's foil gold medal, where one competitor intentionally bell punched the other.
That I witnessed, a fist fight at a team event, that was broken up quickly.
Personally been invovled in? Due to poor officiating, when my team nearly got into a fist fight with the opposing team. We had a coach who realized the situation, and made sure I stayed seated the whole time I wasn't fencing and kept the opposing team members from strolling over to us. The bouts were completely out of control (corps a corps, bell punches, etc...), until the ref was replaced which helped diffuse the situation.
Although none really involved spectators, except the first.
I really wonder why fans have become so mean, reckless, and stupid. I mean, a fight among athletes is one thing, heckling an athlete is another, but a guy throwing beer on a pro athlete who has known anger issues is stupid.

Array But the secret is to chug, and then throw the empty cup. Whatever doesn't kill you, is gonna leave a scar...

Array I just find it amusing that Artest was able to keep his senses about him when being confronted by a larger stronger Ben Wallace, yet, "lost control" after being hit with a nice cool beverage. -
