Array Comments on Long Beach Invitational Just wanted to comment that I participated for the first time in the Long Beach, Calif. Invitational. It had to be the best organized and well-run tournament I've been to yet. They even had a free massage for each entered fencer, lots of door prizes for each event (like 3 prizes for men's epee, then 3 prizes for women's saber, 3 different prizes for mixed saber) on top of the trophies and other goodies. Good level of competition, the epee event was filled with a lot of A and B fencers to go with the other mix. Super fun! I highly recommend it to anyone for next year. I was very surprised at the international mix, although the entry forms didn't show the countries, there were fencers from Argentina, Spain, Mexico, Bulgaria, France, etc. Women's saber for the gold came down to Mexico vs Bulgaria. EDEW was on hand judging. Josh Runyan won the gold in the mixed saber event. Hope to do it again next year. -

Array True that the gold in WS was between a person from Mexico and Bulgaria, but Tsetvelina (sp? - obviously) has been living in Sacramento for several years now. Sorta like an Anna Anguelova Bulgarian. -

Array Hey I saw that match, the Bulgarian girl had BUL on the back of her jacket, and the guy coaching her was talking to her in a foreign language that I assume was Bulgarian. While I was watching he said "funny, this gold medal match being between us Bulgarians and a Mexican".
The match between the guy wearing the saber jacket that said "France", so was he from France?? THat was a brutal match against Momberg. He was trying to hit Momberg so hard that he actually bent is blade almost in half, and Momberg starting responding by hitting back really hard. Momberg won. -

The only ones that hurt are the hits to the back of the head or between the shoulder blades. -

Array Please note that that doesn't really refute the assertion that he HITS hard... Similar Threads -
