Array The USA had a pretty good day...Keltner and Grench make top 32, the Jacobson sisters (Emily and Jackie this time) make top 16, as do Providenza, Wozniak, Thompson, Ward and Zagunis.
Wozniak defeats Jackie J and Palu of France to advance to the bronze medal bout.
Ward defeats Thompson in round of 16, then knocks off Olympic Gold Medalist Zagunis in round of 8. Ward next beats Wozniak in the semis, and follows up with a victory over Hutchison of Great Britain for the gold.
3 Americans in top 8, 7 Americans in top 16! Kudos to all. "Sometimes we, as coaches, get into that dictator mode where you just tell and you don't listen and you don't try to understand them." Tom Izzo, Mich. St.

This looks to be one of the best finishes for the youngest Jacobson. Her dad's a doctor...hmmm...cloning....hmm... "Sometimes we, as coaches, get into that dictator mode where you just tell and you don't listen and you don't try to understand them." Tom Izzo, Mich. St.

Array Besides being good fencers, what I like most about the entire family is that they are so courteous and friendly to everyone. Kudos to Tina and David for raising their children to be good people. And being great fencers doesnt hurt a bit either. -

Valerie and Mariel went off to college. But they are originally from OFA. "You can honestly say that you can settle for a life full of repression and denial?" "And the dinner parties. You can never forget the dinner parties." -

The competition website also had the score wrong for Jo's semi final, and had it down as Jo winning 15-1.
She said "in my bronze fight with Gulotta i actually won 15/10 but i think they wrote this wrong on the site, i wish i had spanked her that easily but i didnt."
