Or, at least if he's typical of the other Scots I came across this summer The only way to atone for being occasionally a little over-dressed is by being always absolutely over-educated. -Oscar Wilde -

Array I'm half British, and I have a lot cousins and such over there. I love foreigners. (and now I am one! Woo!)
Oh! And you can call them 'Brits' only as long as you don't mind being called a 'Yank'. My cousins call me their lovable Yank, and I just call them my silly Brits. It's hilarious to see our conversations. Hehe... Yank... 'tis such a silly word.

The flight of a half-man, half-bird. Dinosaurs nuzzling their young in pastures where strip malls should be. Cookies on dowels. All those moment, lost in time. Gone, like eggs off a hooker's stomach. So many spelling, grammatical, and cultural errors in such a short message, combined with an absurdly heart-wrenching desire not to offend yet presuming that offense must occur, it makes me wonder at the state of our schools. Freedom of speech makes it easier to spot the idiots. -

Array As my name has been invoked several times... Like others have mentioned you can refer to us as "Brit's" so long as you do not mind being referred to as "yanks". You can try to refer to me as a "limey" but I am very likely to either ignore you or refer to you in a manner much less pleasing on the eye than "yank". For the record it would be absurd to refer to me as a limey considering that I've never been to sea.
Additionally, I don't think of myself as a "Brit" per se, I prefer "Scot".

Array And seeing as someone is being PC don't ever refer to Great Britain or the UK as "England". It's not, and it makes you look a bit stupid. -

Array Off topic I know, but the only thing I have ever seen the Scots and the Irish really agree on is a sort of disdain for the English. -

Their friends are much nicer, I've never been called a Yank by them, but they refer to me and the awesome Yank girl... it was really funny when I was first told about it, someone thinks that I'm awesome! hehehehe It's nice, when I move over there I'll already have some contacts. Array I'm British, but I would consider myself Canadian since I've been in BC longer than any other place. I was born in London and I lived there until I moved to Vancouver when I was four. My biological father is still in Britain, and I have a grandma and aunts around there, too. -

being a londoner, i shall happily teach anyone who wishes to learn cockney. the cockney will refer to his american friends as a septic.

Array OK
so the english and scots and irish don't always think the highest of each other.
But what do the scots think of the irish and vice versa.
