The Best Way to Eat an Apple In a distant place a long time ago, three of the best fencers in all of the lands were invited to a nobleman’s estate.
This nobleman was a great judge of fencing, and he had invited the best Epee, Foil, and Saber fencers to his manor to answer a question.
He brought the fencers to his study where stood a pedestal upon which sat a bright red apple of marvelous excellence.
Then he turned to each of them and asked, “What is the best way to eat this apple.”
The Epee fencer casually assumed an en guard position, directing his point towards the apple and said, “The best way to eat this apple is for it to leap down impaling itself upon my point.”
The Foil fencer shook his head and moved to the far side of the pedestal saying, “You must have right of way to eat this apple.”
Then he lightly beat the pedestal with his foil directing his point quickly towards the apple.
Just before he reached it, the Saber fencer cut the apple neatly in half, threw his hands up to the ceiling, and ran around the pedestal screaming, “It’s mine! It’s mine!”
The Director calmly picked up the halved apple and took a bite, looking at each of them again.
“No,” he said, “The best way to eat an apple is whatever way I tell you to eat the apple.”

Array Entirely. "Wars may be fought with weapons, but they are won by men. It is the spirit of men who follow and of the man who leads that gains the victory." - George S. Patton -

Array Shortly thereafter there arose the question as to whether the apple was really an apple or was it actually a pear foisted upon an unsuspecting fruit market by back-handed voting techniques. The apple sellers said, 'We voted on apples!' but the president of the apple committee was strangely quiet. Perhaps, some said, due to the large apple he was eating at the time, an apple that smelt strangely of pear... Similar Threads -
