I'm sorry, I'm not a big metallica fan. I guess I like "Nothing Else Matters" best.

I love Iron Maiden though. I think their best song was "Two Minutes to Midnight" but my favorite song is "666: Number of the Beast"

So hard, like Sophie's choice, but here goes:

    T'allica: #1 Orion. #2 Disposable Heroes. #3 One/Sandman. #4 Ride/Bellz
    #5 Sanitarium/Fade. #6 Master/ Horseman. #7 Seek and destroy
#8 Nothing else matters. #9 Blackened first 3 minutes of Eye beholder
    #10 No remorse/ So what / Creeping #11 Unforgiven /Holier / Roam

Who am I kidding? The question really should be what songs do I not like, that would be much more difficult.

Nothing else matters is metallica's softest song by far... hmm.... everyone, what would you say tallica's hardest song is? I would say that its disposable heroes.

Hit the lights is up there. Ride The Lightning (the song) smacks of Kill em' All too. My favourite Metallica album would be Justice, then Ride the Lightning.

Fave Iron Maiden song: Alexander the Great
Fave Metallica song: Harvester of Sorrow

But it's hard to decide just on one song, there are many good ones!

    Fave Metallica track: Sanitarium
Fave Iron Maiden track: I really dislike Iron Maiden (aparet from Bruce Dickinson who is apparently a nice guy; "Funny, in a rock star kind of way."

If you are really serious, then I recommend you buy their other albums. Cause that song is incredibly weak for Metallica standards.

S&M was awesome. But in terms of new material, Black was probably their last solid gold mine. L and Re-L were....different, and took them more into the hard-rock direction, drifting further away from metal. I thought they were decent albums, but I grew up with Metal-lica not Hardrock-lica so I'm biased. St. Anger did nothing for me unfortunately. When I recently saw them in concert, they played only one song from St. Anger; coincidently, that concert was Bitc-ing.

S&M!!!!!!!!!! HA HA HA HA HA HA

Oh dear oh dear oh dear

Look. Do you know anything about the history of Metallica? They became famous on the back of their anti stadium rock posture. Metallica were a reaction to the over the top stadium rockers of the time. And they wrote good tunes.

S&M puts them firmly in the 'establishment' not outside it. It puts them in the category of "prog" or perhaps "past it". Either way it puts them away from their original ethos. Sure bands can grow but they don't have to become a money making machine that writes poor tracks or tries to re-invent it's back catalogue in order to make a few extra bucks. They have lost their way. Watch that documentary about them that came out recently and you will see what I mean. Don;t forget that these guys are so rich that they can do what they want, so I ask the question: If they can do what they want - why don't they write good songs?

Well, I'll say that St Anger really sucked... the song writing was sub-par... it sounded too bizkitty.... alot of the problem is the bloody bassist. Trujillio needs to go, and they need Jason Newsted back. I honestly thought that the song writing in load and re-load was pretty good, I just wish they would do some more of those sweet symphonic guitar riffs like they did from KEA-TBA. Come to think of it, metallica, even in their old days (or young days, hehehe) was more hard rock by today's standards. If you want metal, listen to children of bodom ( who also kick ***) or some other band of that rockwell.... metallica was never hard like that.

Have you listened to Kill 'em All or Ride the lightning? Fast, heavy AND understandable.
Although I can't compare, I'm not familiar with children of bodom.

Yeah, KEA and RTL are both moderatly heavy. Children of bodom is like.. twenty times as fast and heavy as metallica at their best, but they are not quite as good.
