    Deployed Soldiers

Do you know any fencers that have recently been deployed/activated? And if so do you know how to contact them? I'd like to try to help out any fencers that are currently overseas or currently being trained/stationed at any of our army installations.

http://www.allamericanfencing.com/armyfencing contains a current list of all nearby fencing clubs to the continental U.S. army installations.

Great list, but it is not real accurate. If you are stationed at Ft. Hood, there are a few closer clubs rather than driving to Dallas!

Best advice I can give is to search using this forum.

In the latest American Fencer magazine (Fall 2004) there is an article about someone who is fencing and teaching fencing to his fellow soldiers stationed in Iraq.

The American Fencing article was taken from The Scimitar. The fencer is Dan Gorman, from the Gulf Coast TX Division. Since then, The Scimitar has had another article (Nov. 12 issue, p. 15), this one about a saber tournament held at Camp Victory, where Dan, and Mergs (normally also from the Gulf Coast TX Division) were the referees.

Personally, I'm understanding but miffed that the highest-rated referee in the whole division is refereeing a tournament at Camp Victory and we can't use him for our JO qualifiers!
