I know I am reviving and old comment here, but what about painting a mask like a stormtroopers, and getting a chestplate like a stormtroopers too ? I know where you can get one that would stand up to the test.

In the USA, any color/pattern of clothing is permissable up to but excluding NACs, Summer Nationals, and the qualifying tournaments for them. As for the mask, anything goes; there are no rules concerning colors/patterns on masks.

Meaning: A storm trooper mask would be allowed even at Nationals.

The chestplate, on the other hand, would not be allowed. The rules are very specific on the construction of the fencing jacket.
