    For the Geeks

I have to give in, if only for a little bit...

Halo 2 was an extremely hyped-up game.

Yet it still managed to exceed my expectations, and, in my opinion, the hype.

    That game rules.

By the way, I probably won't be online near as often for the next several weeks...

Halo 2 is good. Not the second coming of Christ or anything, but still worth the cash. I really enjoyed the first one, and am enjoying the second even though it most more of the same with some tweaks here and there.

I'll take more of the same for as long as they're willing to provide it.

I'm very much enjoying the story behind it, too, along with the dual viewpoints for the story.

I'm still playing Halo 1 lol, I've beaten it several times over on legendary but since I was dumb and didn't preorder Halo 2, I'll be waiting a while to have my own copy. SO in the mean time I'll have to hop down to several of my friend's houses and play it there.

Halo 2 is limited by the X-Box's graphics.

    Half-Life 2 will rock.

I agree. Half-Life 2 will be one of the greatest games ever, IMO. I shall not be sleeping on monday night(/tuesday morning). (I love steam preloads. :-D)

I;ve nver understood the X-box fraternity's obsession with FPS. We PC gamers have had them for years. I've not played this yet - but my opinion of Halo was that it was dictinctly average with a bit of hype tacked on.

I'm a big fan of Half Life. I'm really hoping that it's going to be as good as it looks it will.

I'm a poor PS2'er. I've never played Halo. Except like once for like 10 minutes. Pitiful, I know.

    Heretic!

No seriously though, I've only played Halo {one} on PC and I dislike it, a lot.
-Average graphics that demand far more powerful a system than they should.
    -Copy-paste level design.
-Removal of Co-Op play for no apparent reason.

There's probably more but I didn't play it enough to find out about its other glaring inadequacies.

Half-Life 2 should be pretty cool, until they make a Counter-Strike thing for it. Yuck.

I'm going to get Guild Wars early next year and that'll do for me, anything else and I'll have less time for footwork practice.

    Starsiege 2845.

A total conversion Mod now in the works for Tribes: Vengence. I've been following the progress for almost a year now, pretty amazing stuff going on. The game is being made a completely volunteer effort, which has allowed a huge amount of developer interaction.

Most of the people making the game were avid players in the original Starsiege community, so the mod itself is really a labor of love. Come check us out on the forums Here.

I worked on the original Tribes. Worked for Dynamix back in the day. Im in the credits under animation or motion capture I think. (Brian Wright)

    Seriously? Small world.

Wow, you should drop by and say hello.

Blake Hutchins, who did the wiriting for Starsiege, Tribes, and Tribes 2, is the lead writing for the mod as well. Some people might know who you are

Posted over in the classis SS forum there. Been a long time since I had much to do with Starsiege. You know Jeff Turmell? The founder of Dynamix? I lived across the street from him back in high school. They were working on Rise of the Dragon back then (one of the very first VGA required games). Anyhow, when I got to college, I hit him up for a job, and that's how I got started there.

My favorite part of Halo is the story, which I think makes a huge difference in any game. The story in Halo 2 is better.

I like Halo on the X-Box a lot better, because you can get the good graphics without loading your system down.

Actually, I take it back. My favorite part of either Halo game is definitely the Grunts. Those guys are awesome.
